Pop-punky goodness with engaging French vocals over the top, what’s not to like? Lyon solo artist Romain Ughetto is undergoing somewhat of a shift in style with his focus on catchy pop-punk.
Romain is going about it in the right way too, as he tells us his latest project sees him working with the legends that are his fellow countrymen Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!. Read more on that in the interview below.
Romain’s latest single T’es Comme Ca (translates to You’re Like That) represents his shift towards a more punk rock vibe. The track speaks out against people being judged as different in a negative tone, be that because they perceived as being extravagant, members of the LGBT community or simply from a foreign community.
It opens up with a cool guitar riff over punky chords that continue into a lively opening verse. Catchy vocals come in, then livelier guitars support the second verse, before layered vocals in a chorus that ends on repeats of “T’es comme ca.”
A second chorus drops into drawn-out vocals over lighter guitars and strings, then pick punchy guitar chords over several repeats of “T’es comme ca.” And it ends in big punk rocky fashion, bringing a super-catchy to a lively ending. Check it out in the fun cheesy video below:
We had a chat with Romain to find out more about his music and his future plans to ‘punk rock up’ his music. Read on below…

RU: “Very light pop-punk? In French language… But maybe it will change!”
GR: What influences you to write music?
RU: “My life, people, tours… Since 2011, I’ve released maybe 50 songs. And I think: 30% Love songs / 30% sad songs / 30% party songs / 10% what the fuck songs?”

GR: Anything else you’d like people to know about you/your music?
RU: “Back in 2012, here in France, I signed with Universal music and did some TV Shows and a lot of other things. Now, I’m starting the new era of my project… It’s like a second life: more rock, more me.”
