New Music Friday Round-Up: 1 June

Welcome to a brand new feature that we’re kicking off this week: New Music Friday Round-Up. The clue is in the title, we’ll bring you a round-up of the latest new music from our favourite new rock and metal bands every Friday.

Here goes…

Cassels – When Completing Handshakes (Single)

A bit of noise rock to liven up your Friday from the Chipping Norton duo. A noisy intro flows into big chunky guitar chords, then a chatty opening verse that gradually builds in intensity and picks up pace towards more dirty noisy riffs. Turn it up loud.

Give it a listen on Spotify, follow them on Facebook and Twitter, and check out the video below:

Tigress – Who Cares (EP)

A cracking new EP from the Chelmsford rockers, which kicks off in style with the excellent Paranoid and never stops rocking. The angsty Bring Me Down is a particular highlight with its dirty guitar riffs and edgy vocals. Kate Jackson’s vocals are simply stunning throughout.

Check out the video for the more anthemic Hangman, the fourth track from the five-track EP, below for a taster.

The EP is available to download here and to stream on Spotify, and give Tigress a follow on Facebook and Twitter.

Emp!re – Sour Tastes (Single)

OK this tune actually came out on Monday, but it’s awesome, so give it a listen. It’s perhaps a bit more anthemic than we’ve been used to from Emp!re, but the trademark vocals of Joe Green are as good as ever, with plenty of fun riffs and driving drums to keep you entertained. They’ve also announced their debut album will be out in September, and you can pre-order it here. And you can catch them playing Camden Rocks tomorrow at 12.30pm at The Black Heart.

Check it out in the stream below, have a listen on Spotify and follow Empire on Facebook and Twitter.

Dividium – T.H.R.E.E (EP)

An excellent new EP from Hull’s finest tech metal export. We’ll be talking about these guys in more detail in an upcoming article so not too many spoilers for now, except to say if you love guitar-led tech metal then this hard-hitting EP will tick all your boxes.

Check out the brilliantly titled opening track Send Nudes in the video below. Give the EP a listen on Spotify, and give them a follow on Facebook and Twitter.

wars – Little Death (Single)

The Rugby five-piece return with their first new music in a while, and it’s well worth the wait. This new single showcases the band’s ability. There’s plenty more to come as they’ve just signed to a new record label for a series of releases and they’re heading out on tour with Cove. Do not miss it!

Check out our review of the single here, watch the video below, give it a listen on Spotify, and follow wars on Facebook and Twitter.

As Everything Unfolds – 17:10 (Single)

Released last Friday we just had to include this great new track from High Wycombe’s finest. Combining bone-shakingly heavy metal riffs and booming synths with Charlie Rolfe’s dominating vocals, this is an absolute banger from one of the hottest new British metal bands out there.

Check it out in the video below, listen on Spotify, and give them a follow on Facebook and Twitter. They’re also out on tour across the UK starting today in Carlisle, then Lancaster, Sheffield, Plymouth and London over the next four evenings. More info on all their gigs is here.

The Five Hundred – Smoke & Mirrors (Single)

The Nottingham via Gibraltar metal quintet have launched a video single, while announcing a recording deal with Long Branch Records. Tacking subjects such as struggling with tourettes, OCD, gambling and drug addiction, to perfecting their art and proving that together they are a force of nature, this is certainly an intriguing band. The track comes from their debut album Bleed Red, which has been produced by SiKth’s Justin Hill and will be released on 17 August.

Check out the new video below, listen on Spotify and follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

Neorhythm – Golden Mean (Single)

So this band was described to us as ‘Metal from Space.’ The cosmic metal duo tell their story as: “On a distant planet in the constellation E61,3 (which we call Neuw ourselves),
two renegade traitors of interstellar spaces from the red subrace of Nameless decided to penetrate the Virgo Supercluster. It happened on the earthly calendar in the year 1703. For more than 300 years our spaceship ploughed through the galaxy until it came across the Milky Way to the bright yellow dwarf G2V, which you call Sol.” Wacky. They came to Earth, via Finland, and created some funky heavy metal.

Check out the debut single below, pre-order their debut album here, give them a listen on Spotify, and follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

Nereis – Overdrive (Single)

And finally… Heavy metal from Italy? You know you want to. Trento rockers Nereis have released a video for Overdrive, the third single from their debut album, which is out next week and available here. Expect huge metal riffs and epic vocals.

Give them a listen on Spotify, and follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

Check it out in the video below:

Coheed and Cambria – The Dark Sentencer (Single)

Oh, and one more thing. Yes, new music from Coheed. And wow. It’s so good that we couldn’t resist adding this to our list. I think you know where to find these guys. Check out the epic 10-minute long video below:
