If you’ve never listened to any Dutch metal bands before then Nijmegen five-piece Vain Louie is one hell of a place to get started. They offer up a thrilling melodic hardcore sound that’s seriously heavy, hugely energetic and curiously catchy.
Emerging from the Ruhr area in the south of Germany is brand new sextet All Miles Gone, who combine heavy male vocals and clean female vocals alongside a backdrop of brutal guitars and atmospheric melodies.
One of the best – if not the best – things about music is the power it has to change the way you feel, both in the sound of the instrumentals and in the meaning of the lyrics. Glasgow newcomers Bearers are a perfect example of this, and it’s safe to say that their powerful yet engagingly melodic metal sound takes you through a cycle of emotions and feelings.
All-out, full-on melodic hardcore at its finest is tinged with sadness and reflection upon the release of the debut EP of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, band Northern Remains.
Describing melodic hardcore as “catchy” might raise a few eyebrows, but Chicago newcomers Second Wind have achieved just that with their heavy, yet melodic sound.
