West Auckland quintet Finger Tight are putting the New Zealand punk scene on the global map with their engaging and feisty pop-punk sound.
International musical collective Threads sees musicians from Australia, Chile, Greece and New Zealand combine in Berlin. The result is a delicious groove-laden yet melodic post-rock meets metal sound that they describe as “atmospheric, progressive and groovy.”
We’ve not featured too many bands from New Zealand (only six in five years!) but those we have featured have all been superb. And there’s no letting down on that front with the stunning metalcore sound of Full Bloom, which they describe as being “honest, heavy and instinctual.”
The tag of unique is thrown around far too easily not just in music but in all areas of our lives. But in South Auckland’s Shepherds Reign we think we’ve found a band that absolutely fits that moniker.
An impressive back catalogue of independent songwriting by Andrew Spittle – totalling some 40 or so albums – has evolved into new three-piece Charcoal Burners.
We’ve met a couple of great new bands from New Zealand recently, but they’re being a serious run for their money by awesome Auckland rockers Dead Favours.
