Three years ago, the four members of Swedish band of Åssit couldn’t play any instruments. But, in a short space of time, they’ve not only learnt to do so but also honed a diverse, melodic and engaging old-school rock sound.
We’re kicking off the weekend with a brutal assault of intense progressive metal that fuses low-tuned guitars, funky melodies, powerful vocals and intriguing lyrics from Sweden’s Limbo.

Swedish rock and metal always has a special appeal for me, so I was thrilled to discover exciting new Gothenburg band Orochen. The band have honed a dark, atmospheric sound that has a real 2000s post-rock feel alongside folky elements with a post-metal and sludgy edge. Or, as they put it, “apocalyptic post-industrial neofolk.”
Swedish trio Allergic To Humans bring us a rough and ready, raw, energetic garage punk sound that’s laced with funky riffs and catchy vocals.
Fusing the energy and power of punk and thrash is always to be a winning combination, and the intense sound of Swedish rockers Germ Bomb proves that sweeping statement.
